Instructional Design Blogs

Ok class, here are three great instructional design blogs I found.

Instructional Design Open Studio – http://id.ome.ksu.edu/blog/
This blog has a large number of blog topics all related to instructional design and technology.  There are 36 different blog topics to choose from to include a separate section for “roundtable” discussion blogs.  There is definitely a wealth of information here (from many sources) and I look forward to finding out what this site has to offer.

Instructional Design: On the road to learning - http://road-to-learning.blogspot.com/
The last blog article posted is dated 29 Jan 2011; however, the person who created this blog appears to have a lot of good information to share about ID.  The most recent blog post is titled “The New Age Instructional Designer” and is a really good read.

The Rapid E-Learning Blog - http://www.articulate.com/rapid-elearning/
I like this blog because it provides some great information on E-Learning, which is definitely one of my interests.  It provides information on the basics of E-learning (Rapid E-Learning 101) as well as tips on instructional design, managing E-Learning projects, and video and graphic presentation tips.

  1. DV808,

I checked out the first blog you listed; Instructional Design Studio. As soon as I looked at one of the links within the blog I came across, "wallwisher." Wallwisher is an excellent collaborative tool used for gathering short segments of feedback on a posed question, either by the teacher or student. You are also, completely correct about the wealth of information here; I cannot necessarily critique one blog from the many listed. I wanted to share with you however, how excited I was to see wall wisher. It is an extremely fun tool, but from experience, I have to emphasize it is only useful for short segments of feedback (from what I recall it may be 70 characters or less). Check it out when you get a chance: www.wallwisher.com. This could be used for non-educational purposes as well of course!! I actually had my facebook friends respond to a trial wall I had created for my school; I think the question was, “what was your favorite summer memory.”
Sample of one that I made in 2010:

Secondly, the Rapid E-Learning blog is fantastic! How were you able to find such a wealth of knowledge in one place? I am still new to blogging and would love to know how you “searched” for this criterion. The information I skimmed this evening dealt with eLearning with power point. The emphasized the importance of organizational graphics and embedded audio.

Your blog is very simplistic, but these sites are rich and one of a kind!

  2. Brittney,

Thanks for the info about Wallwisher. What a cool site! I personally use online "stickies" in Outlook for things like jotting down userids for websites or noting a quick phone number so I love the idea of a website that resembles sticky notes.

As far as finding the Rapid E-Learning site, I believe I just Google'd "Instructional Design blogs" and found it that way. I was trying to find sites with a wealth of information and I really liked the way this one was laid out. He gave some great, real-world tutorials (that is really helpful for those of us new to the field).

Thanks for posting on my blog!
